My step daughter has acquired a dog which is claimed to be a cross breed between two pedigree parents. The grand kids have named it Harley after their dad’s motor bike. Their surname is Davies – so the full name of the dog is Harley Davies

She has told me its parentage - but I’m not sure she is correct. I will tell you later when you have had a guess.

The dog is 5 months old and appears to have a very calm and sweet nature. They have had it for just 8 days and in that time our two grand kids aged 12 and 17 have taught it to walk to heel and comply with the commands  : 
sit,
beg,
give me your paw,
get in your basket
and get off that bloody sofa.

There are more but I can’t remember them all. Sufficient to say I am most impressed with how well behaved it appears to be in such a short time. The grand kids are borderline feral – the dog is not.

The dog does not bark – when you play with it and it gets excited - it looks up and howls like a wolf. It has the most graceful walk – reminiscent of a horse at dressage.  It is currently 50cm tall at the shoulder but has small(ish) feet so is perhaps unlikely to grow into a big dog.  The breeder told them that it will be good with children, never bark, easily trained and a lousy watch dog.

I would love to know what its parentage might be – intelligent guesses would be most welcome from you guys who know more about dogs than me.  Can you help Rick?

But even to my untrained eye, that's a cross between a pitbull and a yorkshire terrier

So, it's a Yorkbull Petrifier.

At a guess I would say Boarder Collie x Terrier, the head resembles a Staffordshire Terrier.

Breed and temperament play an important part in any dogs nature, certain breeds are inherently more prone for being dangerous and untrustworthy but I've also seen plenty of supposedly trusted dogs turn under certain circumstances, children annoying and bothering dogs are some of the most common reasons for dog attacks.

nuisance dogs or barking are because of bad training and neglectful owners.  Not the dogs fault

Alan, I reckon it might be worth a trip to the vet for a check up as it's only just been acquired.
And you could ask him/her if they have any idea about the mix of breeds.

It's definitely not a German Shorthaired Pointer like mine as he does as he's told.
