Very nice, just needs a hard tarp to finish it off... side mirrors painted the body colour would look good too

We steered away from the hard tonneau cover, as it restricts what you can put in the back.  We intend to use the ute to cart stuff around, although not too much as the max weight in the tray is about 550 kg.

I actually like the chrome mirrors.  As it was a second hand car, we didn't really have a choice, but they are an option on eBay.

Yeah the hard covers aren't much good if you're looking to load it up, I had the VY SS with the hard tarp and had to remove it a few times ( 60 second to remove but it takes two people ) but they look so good

So get a hard cover with motorised hoist, can double as an active high speed spoiler.

Yeah there not cheap but if you have valuable tools or camping equipment in the back at least they can be locked up, I cant remember what mine cost in 2003 but it was somewhere around that price.

I/m with you Phil,lovely Ute,but I couldn't afford the Rego,Insurance and fuel costs,have a few blokes at work,two with Maloo's one with a Clubsport and another with a SSV wagon,they have all said the same thing,you don't watch the speed you watch the fuel gauge

Plus I don't pay GST on any purchase.  I also get a 3c / litre saving on top of that when I fill up at BP.

So I end up paying about $0.85 per litre for fuel!!

Indeed, that is what I meant. I have never seen anything like it. I wonder if the Chevrolet Lumina that GM imported to SA all those years ago were also like that? They ought to be; they are basically the same car



I had the privilege of riding shotgun in the 5.7 V8 model Ute one day, going with a friend's dad to his work when I was little. I have never seen the 200kph mark come up so fast in my life. The torque is simply amazing

I closed my eyes for fear of them being sucked out of their sockets so I couldn't tell you unfortunately

I have once dared to go over 200kph on a friends' CBR600 but I promised myself "never again" as at that speed self-preservation kicks in quite fast and I ended up reprimanding myself all the way back into town. It still felt more stable than my KLR650 @ 140kph, I won't lie. Those tractors aren't built for speed

You get used to the speed, I've had the Clubby bouncing at 320kph out near where Doggie lives once  and before I did my back in the 57 at 380kph in a tad under 6 seconds
