Dazz - did you have this in mind when you toyed with the idea of getting a 3-D printer?

I could have lots of fun with a 3D printer.

Although a CNC machine would be even better.

You'd have plenty of room in that big shed of yours Dave and you could make lots of brand new cars, maybe even the first 3d printed P76 :D

Fairly simple really, the printhead moves in three dimensions spewing out melted plastic to make 3 dimensional shapes as guided by a computer. There are various different types using different materials now.

I will get one eventually. Not an early adopter these days like I used to be..

Trish is too busy helping others to do much with her model trains at the moment.. :disapp: .... but going forward she would like me to get a 3D printer as would be great for making custom stuff like tunnel portals and things like that.. (sounds like a good excuse anyway)  :happydance:

If I wait another 6-12 months I should pick up a really good one for $1000 to $1500  :goodjob:

Any pics of Trish's layout?
I quite like model railways, N gauge in particular, but got no time space or money to do anything for myself.

It's 00/HO gauge,around 18' x 9' (so pretty big) It's a bit untidy and unfinished at the moment.

I'll try and remember to post some pix when it's slightly more presentable.  :goodjob:
