Hi,
Can anyone recommend a product to prevent VPN tracking on a home computer?

Cheers,
Paolo

What is this VPN thing you talk about?

I have heard that Torguard is a reasonable product I had a friend who got it this week for 50% off, $40 Australian, now all his activity can be sent wherever he likes.

Look for a mob that doesn't log activity for obvious reasons.

A VPN ( Virtual Private Network ) comes with several of the paid Anti-Virus suites, there are several free one's out there but then you're sacrificing your information for them to track :p

VPN's are usually only a benefit when sharing free internet in Hotels and Cafe's or particularly of use in countries ( China eg ) that restrict the sites you can visit.

I'd suggest maybe directing you questions more to security sites that deal with these features more often so you can get more information on the subject.

I am using VPN when I go to China later on this week..........

are you using VPN because of your downloads (movies) etc because of the latest scare mongering about tracking people  over their pirate downloads...?

My friend finds that alot of his utorrent ads are now in Dutch, same females though :P

Another friend actually saw his D/L speed increase....and is now going to d/l the first 4 episodes of GOT

There is plenty of information on Whirlpool forums, but there are also a lot of people who don't speak non tech, and those who enjoy arguing for the sake of it.....

beerman@ Does your friend know he can disable all those Utorrent ads :link: Disable Ads In uTorrent Via Settings | Lifehacker Australia

Malwarebyte Pro's malicious website protection will also block all the malicious peer IP's and trackers that will connect with your system when starting Utorrent

It doesn't matter what you use, someone can see you. That is not scare-mongering, it's a fact.

Now, depending where you are in the world and local legislation, it may be legal or illegal to download copyrighted content. It most certainly is illegal in most countries to upload such content.

And, of course, it depends on what you're after. A mp3 file, okay probably you'll not have a problem, but kiddy-fiddling photo's? Big no-no (every law enforcement agency is after them.

Try this one: :link: hide.me: World's fastest VPN and Privacy Protection

There's a free version you can try to see how it works.

Worth pointing out there are numerous legitimate uses for VPN. I connect to my work network this way each day, so the grand plan of banning VPN is another idiotic idea from those with no idea.

I'm still thinking that if those with content were to get with the program and make it available at a reasonable price, pirating would mostly go away. Scaring people with legal action and banning technology is not the answer.

At the moment I am in China and using "Viper" VPN to post this and also to give wifey access to FB. It costs $10 a month to use and it does drop out occasionally on the computer, but works better on the mobile phone......
