My wife is a nurse. Her employer has sent her a direction that the SA Govt now requires her to be on the Crimtrack database, because she could have contact with vunerable patients, Children and aged care patients.
She already has paid the $45 fee to be cleared by SA Police.

The fees for Crimtrack are,

Vulnerable         $82.00
Child                  $99.55
Aged                  $82.50
                         =====
Total                 $264.05
                         =====

Given that this will apply to most nurses, students AND volunteers and that these people are already screened by the police, this is just a money grabbing new taxation on a particular industry. It lasts 3 years and then we do it all again.

The State govt are a bunch of lying, thieving, bas***ds IMO.

Seems to be a bit of a rip.
What more does the Crimtrack checks do that the police check does not??

Like most states, the govt is crying out for money, so this is their way of generating revenue. Wifey only works part time, so that's more than she will earn some weeks.  :fum:

A bit like the licences for my work.
They will only issue it for one year to begin with so that you have to go back in twelve months' time, at which point you can renew for three years.
The cost?
$2000 for the issue and renewal.  :evil:
And they do nothing for us at all. No representation or assistance. Purely licensing.

What a rip-off!!  I remember when I had to get a "Working with Children" check done so I could manage my son's soccer team.  As I was a volunteer the cost to me was $0.  This should be the case for all people working in the health and education industry too.  I know that your wife will be able to claim this as a tax rebate, but it doesn't help you for being out of pocket to get it done.

At least she doesn't have to deal with CASA!!  Now there is a money grabbing organisation.  Not only do I have to pay for my annual medical and blood tests, but then I have to pay CASA to review what the doctor has told them (which I can't claim on medicare).  Every time I get a new endorsement or renewal of a certification (three times a year for me), I have to pay CASA for them to re-issue what I have done.

I've managed to maintain my Working With Children and Senior First Aid at no personal cost but I do wonder when that will change. :rolleyes:
