Was out tonight and for the first time in my i30 I  had to use lights.

Left the lights on when I nipped in to petrol station but noted that when I opened my door there was no warning. Is this right?

Are the lights clever and just switch themselves off?

Yeah that's how mine work, called " follow me home lighting"

Mine does that too.

They switch off after 20 or so seconds if you leave them on and exit the car. Also, on my i30 when you lock the car twice with the remote it turns them off. Unlocking the car turns them on again, provided the switch is set to ON on the light stalk.
