Picked up my Hyper Silver SLX CRDI yesterday :D :D :D.  Fantastic car so far.  Really like the colour now that I've got it.  I think with I full palette of colours to choose I would have ended up picking the same.  It's a little be chameleon like, depending on the light it can look light or dark (think that is way a lot of the pictures don't really caputre it well).

Dealer was great too, got my mats, ipod cable, 12months rego and 1/2 tank diesel.  Service department gave me a free map book too, nice touch.  I thought the box of diesel gloves in the glove box was funny.  Haven't needed to fill up yet to see if I need them though.

Sorted out insurance for only $2.30 per month more than my old car (2002 Hyundai Accent) so pretty happy about that.

Love the acceleration, seems much quicker than the specs.  Getting use to the diesel rattle.  Only noticeable cold.  Seems to be a burning type smell after driving it, I don't know if that is because of the diesel or just because it is new.  Fuel economy has dropped from 25.3L/100Km when I picked it up to 7.9Km, hoping it will go lower although the acceleration is hard to resist.

Was very pleased to find the ipod interface is fast and responsive, much better than the Sony head unit I had in my previous car.  Think I read somewhere that a song would go back to the beginning after turning the ignition off and on but I found it picked up right where it left off, very pleased.  It's also not too bad on gapless playback (playing two songs where there is no gap, eg. Dark Side of the Moon). Although not perfect, it's better than what I expected.  Can't believe one review I read said the stereo was "suprisingly poor for a current model", I think it's fantastic, display is great and superb Ipod interface.  Probably needs better bass but I listen to a lot of vocals and acoustic music anyway.  The dark feature to turn off the stereo screen is good but it's a bit of an oversight that the climate control screen doesn't turn off too.

All in all very happy with my purchase and don't regret one bit not buying the other car I had on my radar (Ford Focus XR5).

Excellent news, congrats, and looking forwards to some chameleon pics :D

The bass can be changed in the setup menu. You just have to find it :P

Congrats myrrh55,

Glad you are pleased with the colour and the car...Did you get an auto or a manual? The economy should improve a lot more if it's a manual

The burning smell will go after a week or so.. I had that assume it is something near the exhaust burning off. Under some conditions you will get a whiff of Diesel but I don't notice it now...

Learn something every day .. after 5400 posts on here and 16 months ownership didn't know there was an easy way to turn off the stereo display (not that I want to...)

It doesn't wear off either.. After around 38,500 Kms and 16 months or so I still just have to plant the foot sometimes  :D

Got the manual, thought about getting an auto for about 5 seconds then came to my senses.  The gear shift is a little stiff at the moment, forth & fifth are smooth but 1st is a bit of a effort.  Hope it improves.

Will try to get some pics today, took some yesterday but the lighting was all wrong.

Oh man, I'd be lost without this! Coming home late at night, that bright blue light can be way too much, even at lowest setting! Especially out on empty open roads with no streetlights

It will improve.. mine improved gradually over the first 10 or 15 thousand Kms..(excellent now)

Honestly I never noticed that "dark" button on the audio  :-[

I like my dials and dash nice and bright for some reason??? Doesn't distract me at all...
