The UK has reaffirmed its commitment to an agreement that all new cars sold by 2050 will be zero emissions vehicles.

The ZEV Alliance received the signatures of five countries and eight US states in total to continue to support zero emissions technology and promote the clean-up of vehicle-produced pollutants.

In 35 years we will have some very effective solar panels, and one would think appliances will become even more efficient. So there is no reason that a lot of this power will not be renewable. Main obstacle to an electric car is price at the moment.

Thats assuming that other sources of fuel don't take the place of electricity like hydrogen for example.
