Does anyone know if the climate control on the FD i30 is self contained like the Bluetooth enabled head unit? With a number of i30s now at wreckers I was wondering if I might be able to upgrade the standard dash components in our manual wagon which never had climate control as an option. Would appreciate any information.

Hi there, Long time to make your first post! Hopefully Techie Tim will know the answer, but having had climate control in my last 5 or 6 cars I reckon it is over-rated. We often get people on here asking how to over-ride some of the auto functions. The simple system in my wife's base model tourer seems easier to find and adjust temperature and flow. Just  my 2c worth.

Unfortunately looking at the schematics there are alot of differences in connectors.
I think if you were to do it you would need a comlete A/C Heater housing, A/C module (if it fits the same hole) and a harness at least.

Hard to say definatively but it definately isnt a straight swap. The modules themselves use different connectors.

I wanted to do this to my SX wagon, but after having climate control in our GD Elite... It's over rated. The only thing I like about it is the auto sensing defrost mode.

Glad to see I'm not the only one!  :goodjob:

Is that missing an "isn't"?  Just asking for future readers/user browsing.

Having had both, climate control in my SLX FD and manual A/C in the GD, I prefer the manual A/C.
Easier to control to get what you want.
Just my 2c's worth.  :)
