Don't reckon Lester saw that! He wouldn't be seen within a mile of a place like that.

Managed to get out yesterday.  Weather was cold with a sharp northerly wind and a temperature of 4C.

Did a part old route and part new route.

I did a ride along the Shropshire Union Canal which cut through the middle of Chester, the along the River Dee towards its mouth, you can see the hills of North Wales in the distance, the cut inland due to the bitter wind and home.

Also, I crossed into another country........Wales.....No border controls here     :crazy1:

My train from my local station to Chester

Canal cut which goes through the centre of Chester.  The shopping centre is on either side of the cut.

River Dee looking towards Wales

The rest are of the path along the River Dee

waterways look nice and clean....
Yes, uk have spent lots of ££ on cleaning up the rivers.

Also, due to the high volume of rain recently this has probably cleaned out the rivers...

Managed to get out again today.

Frosty underfoot but sunny and temp showing 2C and rising with a southerly light breeze.

So off I went on one of my 2 wheeled adventures.

And final photo of my lunch from the famous Parkgate Chippy

ps.
Asa went past the hossie and it is still empty.

Always interested to see where you've been. Looks like a good day out.

I had a few outings a while back, and not much since. Working up to riding the range in two weeks so its time to get stuck into the hills again to prepare.

And went for a ride with Adam Hansen a few weeks ago.

Well ive been riding to work 2-3 days a week. A whole 5km round trip. You could say im getting pretty serious lol.
Been alternating with mornings at the gym. Except last week, front tyre had a puncture after going out to Tamworth mountain bike park. Couldnt afford a patch kit until pay day.

Oops. The aftermath of the weekends mishap. Nothing broken, helmet trashed as I mentioned elsewhere. A few scrapes and bruises. Lucky.

First time out on the bike since the 19 Feb as not been too good as had a bad cold and when that went I started with a dry cough which I couldn't shift. Now I'm back to full fitness after self medication of a few tins of John Smith's smooth!!!!
Been looking for new routes so today's ride was a brand new route which links 2 stations on the Mersey Rail network so only have to ride 1 way!!!
Just a shortish ride today from Ellesmere Port to Chester via Shropshire Union canal, Picton, Mickle Trafford and The Greenway.
Found a great cafe which does a good selection barms and home made cakes.  Well worth a visit and now on my list of places to stopover should I be out that way again.
Noticed no Chips on the menu but they do Potato Wedges so may try them next time!
Not many scenic photo's on this ride but did a few of the trains and for those interested, the bike store area on the local trains.
The wood carvings are from old wooden railway sleepers.

Ps
I didn't fall off my bike :whistler:

Great still's Lester, interesting to see you have a wheel chair or pushy or pram space on your trains. here in the state of New South Wales, the Government bus's have the same, but our trains don't you just put Push's were you can. i just looked at the bottle's on your bikes, looks like water? love seeing your riding pic's!! Also interesting to note the distances, like 1/2 , 3 1/4. 10 1/4 . we don't have half's quarters or three quarters just whole in our distance's. might be a good reason to go to Kilometres?

NNNNnnnnoooooo we can't do that, we used to love our LSD currency which was loads of fun when foreigners arrived and just looked stunned with confusion...  We know there are 8 furlongs in a mile and 20 hundredweights in a ton, sixteen ounces in a pound and all that's stuff and we need to keep our identity.  Just cos you Ozzies sold your souls to the devil (USA) don't expect us Brits to jump in behind you   :crazy1:  :crazy1:  :crazy1:  :crazy1:  :crazy1:    :crazy1: :crazy1: :crazy1:

Great still's Lester, interesting to see you have a wheel chair or pushy or pram space on your trains.

On local trains which have 3 cars and 2 sets of doors, first and last cars have facilities as follows.

Door 1 - wheel chairs and prams
Door 2 - bikes and prams

People tend to use  the correct door but when busy any will be used.

Also, when spaces full, just stand in passage way as no restriction on number of each per car..

Very bike friendly..... and free......

Good one ASA , so explain why , you all chop & change to suit yourself, like you all tell me you drive a 1.6, or a 1.4. well your way a 1.6 = 98 cubic inch 1.4 = 93 cubic inch so expiate that one?

Ah, 12 pennies in  shilling, 20 shillings to the pound. I used to love adding & subtracting currency sums at school.
Today's kids couldn't do it, so we went decimal, instead of using the cane.
