Stumbled upon this, interesting to read what BMW 1 series owners think of the i30 similarity

So much arrogant snobbery in those ranks. Shows that our brand is still underrated :(

I like the look of the BMW 1 series but I wouldn't pay the premium though. I don't actually give a fig about what badge is on my car, as long as it's economical and reliable.

Proves they are a bit stupid if you ask me, "the Koreans have copied our car".

I feel like registering with them and pointing out that the i30 was designed in their beloved Germany for the European market.  Then I want to point out that a rear wheel drive 1-series is crap in the snow and that my i30 with ESP (and "horrible bumper corners" will just drive past their silly spinning rear wheels.

People like this should be banned from owning cars, they have no clue about them

I think that the 1-series is ugly to tell the truth and if i had a choice between the 1 series and the i30, i would still choose the i30! personally, i like the tall tail lights and also prefer the front and  headlights of the i30 to the 1-series. also the economy of the i30 is the real factor in the end between the two, for me

Don't worry about those stooges - and this is coming from a former BMW owner.

Next time you see one broken down just offer them a lift in your i30. No use gloating...

BMW's are great cars in my opinion. Bmw series 1 (for me) looks nice on the outside and not so good inside.. Engines are probably also very good.. But..please take the price list of bmw 1 and i30.. It's funny that bmw 1 series owners have to talk bad about i30.. I mean..it's the same as somebody that has Hyundai ix55 is saying how Santa Fe isn't as good as ix55, how it sucks, doesn't have auto-closing rear (trunk) doors.. Here Santa Fe costs around 30-34k EUR and ix55 is around 47k EUR.. We still decide to buy Santa Fe, because it's more rational decision for us and we don't need ix55..

I would buy Bmw 1 if I really liked it and had more money and if I wanted to "say something" with the fact that I'm owning BMW.. But I would buy some other brand probably.. Rather than BMW/Mercedes/Audi, I would go for something like Volvo, Saab, Lexus, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai.. Among BMW and similar brand owners I don't include people, that buy 20 year old BMW or MB just so they could "brag" how they are driving MB/Bmw..
I don't have the need to say anything through my car, nor do I need any extension for my lalala.. I also don't feel bad about owning Hyundai, on the contrary, I'm quite proud that I'm owning a Hyundai i30. If you ask me, I would say that i30 and similar cars owners, are quite smart people.. They buy nice looking, useful, comfortable, safe and reliable car with a great price/value relation.. Why pay much more when you can have all or even better, when choosing i30..  8)

Hi!

My other car is an old 6 cylinder BMW 320i Coupe Aut 1993 model.
300000 km on the clock and still no problem with it besides it is heavy on the fuel.
1,2-1,4L/10km.
Private imported from Germany>Sweden 2001.
BMW makes great cars, but the price of them is too high, if you compare what you get when you buy a Hyundai...

show that the i30 has got them talking, even if it is rubbish ,that first tart, "now i want to change my car" what flipping loyalty, i feel like hijacking their site and let them know that the I30 is far better then that cheep metal that's been over priced because their so tarty snobby to notice its really crap.. however by doing that they might hijack this site and i don't what that..."Mining black bumpers" they are only jealous they don't get this refinement, least i don't drive drug dealing wheels ,that they have to pay extra what is standard on i30 now that's what i call funny... still the i30 is the only one with a usb port on the market, put that in yer pipe and smoke it

Well, if you spend THAT much money on a SMALL car you certainly want to justify the spend to yourself and the other tards that spent the same amount....

when they could have....  Just bought an i30 instead...
Imagine how much less they would have to pay back on their status building, "must have", "I'm a tard" loans by buying one of these baby's instead.

(/me crosses BMW 1 series diesels off the list of potential "Next Blue's Mobiles").

Q: What's the difference between an i30 and a BMW 1 series?

7 Grand?
3 inches of headroom?
5 year warranty?

You decide:

Its nothing dodgy, honest.

Good find! The thing that strikes me about that series of pictures is the much tighter panel gaps on the i30 compared to the 1 series.

So one of the differences is the quality and precision of the build, which the i30 wins.

Another is that I want an i30 and I don't want a 1 series.

Also, if you see a car and you don't know if it's an i30 or a 1, just look for a flashing indicator/turn signal. If you see it flash it's an i30. As we all know, indicators don't work in BMWs.

Now we need to get Google to put this thread first in a BMW search by typing BMW many times in this BMW post so that anybody who is looking for BMW gets directed to our BMW thread on our non BMW site and can read all about what people who don't own a BMW think about the people who do own a BMW or even are thinking about becoming a BMW owner.

i liked the photo comparison between the (and just for shambles here) the i30 and the BMW

i was never really sure what the similarites were before (don't get many BMW's up here in the sticks  :P). so yep can see what those similarities are for sure, i have to say i think the i30 is way prettier than the BMW! she's a lot smoother, curvy without being fat, whereas the BMW is very angular, like's she's trying to starve herself to be one of the 'in' crowd.

wow now there's an anology for you guys
so just for the heck of it a quick google and oila.....

BMW vs i30 model style
