I'm back after making the mistake of going to Honda last time, not very reliable and sooooooo boring.

Anyway, this time I'm looking at a 2015 Hyundai i30 Se Crdi Blue Drive Auto so will be having a trawl through the threads for hints, tips, advice etc.

Bye for now

A lot of members don't like the auto so you do what you want. The bluedrive is not really very effective and your alternator will cost a lot to fix if it ever breaks. there are many conditions that have to be met before bluedrive even operates, so I would steer away from it.

The 6 speed auto in the series 2 is more efficient than the 4 speed in the series one. Like Phil says the ISG in the i30 is not that successful but hasn't caused a lot of problems either. Don't pay extra for the bluedrive model unless there are other extra features you like. The bread and butter GD (series 2) diesel is still a fine car.

Both have H's on the bonnet, easy mistake to make  :whistler:

Is there any suggestion of alternator failure? I was of the opinion that this had been debunked and the car stops in such a way so to avoid this?

A quick google check does not show any issues on this front (not that it is overly scientific).

Looking on ebay a new alternator is around $500 so as far as things go not the worst in the spend department.
