Hi, i have i30 1,4 dohc petrol engine car bought 1 year ago. 2012-2017 series.
In service book it wasn't written anything about service intervals..
Now when car is 1 year old i called dealer and asked about service intervals and Hyundai mechanic said 30.000km or 2 years.
I was kind of shocked, it's good for my wallet but it's kind of strange that it's every 2 years.
I made cca 12.000km this year.
In user manual it says that first service is indeed after 30.000km or 2 years but in part where it describes oil and filter change it says 30.000km or 1 year. Kind of confusing..
I specifically asked mechanic is he definitely sure that i don't need to change oil and filters more often than every 2 years or 30.000km and he said yes, it's not like we live in Sahara or Syberia...

Also, in user manual it says that in hard conditions of driving, oil should be changed every 15.000km or 6 months. Some of hard driving conditions are often short distance driving (city driving) and driving less than 15.000km per year. I do both...

So i'm kind of confused..Hyundai mechanic says come every 2 years, oil will be fine, but some common sense says me it's too long period..

Thanks for advices!

Here in uk for my 2012 1.4 petrol although 2 year/20,000 miles service interval, whichever comes first, the book says if you do less than 10,000 miles in 12 months then interim service i,e. oil filter inculding health check.

Hope this helps...

Welcome shilev,

Here in Australia it is 15,000 kilometres or 12 months, whichever comes 1st. Therefore we are amazed over here every time we see your prescribed service intervals. Some Aussies think that even that is too long and change the oil and oil filter every 7,500 kms.

My 1.6 Turbo MY18 PD mobel is every 10,000 kilometres.

Wild west Hyundai are sending me texts, emails and letters that my 1.6 turbo MY18 PD DR registered in July 2017 needs a service urgently with only 5K on clock. they must mean the optional half yearly 7.5K service ???

I guess so. I did my first 10k in about 4 months. When I bought it the salesman said the services are every 7,500 kms.. I said in that case I ain't buying one!  :snigger: Then I said you better RTFM as they aren't the same as they earlier Veloster and even 10K is less than I prefer.

I believe it's always good to change engine oil and oil filter every 6 months or 10,000km. Good for the engine and keep it in proper running order. Although my Active PD only requires servicing every 15,000km or once a year, I would bring it in for service if I hit 15,000km before that period.

In Australia it is whichever comes 1st, so you would have to anyway.
