Yes a big piece of land for sure, but most of it is basically inhabitable - too dry, too hot etc.over 90% of the population (don't quote me on that) live right on the very edge of the coast, and more so on the eastern coast.Aussies also have an obsession with living on coastal areas - any land along a coastal strip is becoming too expensive for the average jo-blo.But having said that most of us would live within 30-40mins drive from the coast anyway.
