We had some really heavy rain and hail today Bureau say only 11 or 12mm but more like an inch in the city centre in just a few hours .. drains overflowed and quite a few shops flooded (probably about half our shops closed including K-mart and a Big Supermarket as well (Didn't even make the local news)

It's 21:50 GMT here and it's been snowing for 60 minutes.

It's currently 3 inches deep, as measured on Fergie's bonnet  :scared:

I'm still waiting for the first snow  and I hope it never comes.

The viking Ingólfur Arnarson sure found the best spot for Reykjavik in 874, the rest of Iceland is covered in snow as usual at this time of the year.

I read somewhere that some town in Greenland didn't get temps below 0°C for a whole month, I think it was in November.

I think the weather in Europe now has something to do with low pressure systems going east between Iceland and UK and dragging cold air from the north. And it's predicted that that will happen ofter, resulting in milder weather for Iceland and Greenland.

It generally doesn't snow much in south-west Iceland.

My car was parked at Maroochydore shopping centre yesterday morning and when we got back to it at 11am, the dash readout was 40C. There must have been some heat rising off the concrete under it, for it to get that high. It was actually about 33.
And 4 days of storms now, with more due tomorrow.
My daughter's old '95 Coroola picked up a few dints in the hail two days ago. Not super noticeable and it's an old car so no big deal. Thankfully Hoondai was safely garaged at home.

Snow last night, 9'ish for 40 minutes and 6 inches deep.

None over night but now more like flurries with a very heavy white sky.  So more later.

As much as my aging bones needs the heat to move and all work together ... I'd love to look out the window and see an endless stream of perfect white snow and the quiet calmness that brings the tranquility of it all ... I do so envy you guys and especially now that Santa is on his way

You are all so lucky back there  :sweating: all I have to see as I try to shield my skinhead noggin from that warmth of our yellowy/orange god in the sky as I walk around Huh is strong toned young (over 18!) female bodies just soaking that sun up and rubbing in (safety factor 90+) to their bronzed bodies and some are so brassen  they don't even wear a top to their tiny bikinis  I just look away  :-[ and think of the lovely snow photo's ...... You guys are so lucky ......

I just got back from 110 miles, and I'm shattered. Main roads were mostly clear, but as soon as you are off the A roafs there were some quite taxing conditions. Came very close to loosing both front alloys at one stage.

Bumpkin,

How far are you from the sea/port?

I ask as I could hear seagulls in the background or have they moved in land looking for food?

Also, The house behind yours to the right.

I wouldn't like to be stood at the back door when all that snow slides off the roof.

Between 3 and 4 miles eye, seagulls up here go as far as 30 miles inland in their hunt for food, so where I am is nothing for them!

We have loads of sea gulls some eighty miles from the sea.

You guys looked at the forecast temperatures between now and christmas day?
