nothing wrong with it...

at least its an EGR tank, it should last a long time!!!

Oh yeah. Was it you who worked for them at one stage, or is my old age memory playing tricks again?

The slimline tanks are designed to fit under eaves but we have two spots in our house outline where the footprint comes out to the outer edge of the eaves (main bathroom and master en-suite). It just happens to be the best spot for location at the back of the house to access the biggest roof collection area was in one of these spots. I wanted to move the clothesline beside the house and use the concrete slab there but I was outnumbered, Claire to one. :sweating:

When empty can they be moved easy so as to free up space?

It's one tank.
Weighs 135 kgs and I slid it round the back from the footpath by myself.

Why would you want to move it? It's out of the way there between the house and my garden shed.
And it's connected to the downpipes from the roof.

And I hope it's never empty.

It wasn't so long ago that you weren't allowed to install a water tank if you lived in town....How times have changed....

Trev, will you use it for drinking at all?

No Russ. It's not big enough for that. We have some nice gardens and the sprinkler system uses a lot of water so this will feed that and maybe wash the cars.
Our neighbour over the road had installed three large tanks and has them plumbed into the house, along with council approved treatment sytem. He also has a 3+kv solar system on his roof.
I have a friend in Samford who had 15,000 litres in two tanks and he uses them for his pool and washing machine.
Having said all that, the way this season is shaping up, I won't be needing towater the gardens until at least next summer. :goodjob:

Solar hot water is next (or solar power). I hate paying utility companies.

Hey Trev, when I said drinking, I meant as in maybe filling a jug to keep in the fridge...that sort of thing... :D It will probably be nicer than the town water with all it's added chemicals....

Nah. I've never had a problem with town water.
The longevity in our families suggests we haven't been badly affected by any contents. :sweating:

So they say...but I'm not a big fan of drinking poison... :scared:
I suspect the "bogan teeth" are caused more from the drugs, the fags and the lack of dental hygiene.......

Perhaps your water isn't too bad in Brissy, but I know when I head up Townsville way the smell alone nearly makes me gag..... :-\

22 degrees with 90% humidity.. Quite overcast this morning.

Sun came out on in the late afternoon on Christmas day and we managed to get through Boxing day with only a minor shower or two.

Felt a little for the holiday makers who coming from Sydney had battled 'heavy traffic' for 5 or so hrs in the rain then set up camp in the rain and had to wait until late afternoon to be able to think about drying out and all this with kids waiting for Santa....

I guess everyone's tastes are different.
We chose the slimline because it fits in nicely beside the house at the back and reckon it looks OK.

hey i didn't say there was anything wrong with it, i said it was 'pretty' ugly. slimline are much better than some i've seen.
as for flouride in water - well there's a whole different debate  :-\, but as for the question about drinking captured rain water its not advised depending on where you live. e.g in my area there is a lot of coal dust that settles on the roof, so that collects with the rain water. the town water is actually cleaner.

======================

rain rain and more darn rain. was planning a trip to brissy but i don't think its going to happen

The more sophisticated setups will allow the first lot of water to be bypassed before it is then directed into the tanks..thus all the rubbish off the roof isn't washed into your tank.

I know what you mean about the coal dust though, I have friends who live in the Latrobe Valley (with their coal fired power stations) and when I visit my car ends up with a fine layer of coal dust by the time I head home...
