Hi every one. I am new here. I own a i30 2.0 petrol since October 2009. I am from Brasil.

Any way, I created this topic because my i30 version DONT have leather at the doors. And Ive been wondering if its possible to insert leather at it. Its frustrating to know that, instead of leather, there is a plastic poor quality panel at the doors.

Is there any solution for this? Or I will have to live with it? Thanks.

Welcome i30 brazil, sorry i can't help with the leather at the door, i think they use plastic as it is waterproof, when it rains and you open the door the door trim can get wet. also it is not that cheap to manufacture, it just becomes cheaper with high volume. & the plus is it is lighter, leathger is too heavy. you have to think about weight as this efects performance & economy.
I'm in Australia mate, here many years back, people that lived way out in the low populated area's thought it was very cool to cover there door trim with animal skin, some had kangaroo door trim some had cow skin. they just removed the door trims and the arm rest and covered it with the animal skin.
cheers mate, hows your i30 going?

The car is perfect. The best I ever had. Its a huge success here in Brasil. Its selling like water. Its a block buster. The coreians are conquering the world.

About the doors leather, Its really a shame. Poor quality plastic door panel. I wish i could put leather at it.

that's great to hear, i enjoy my little i30 too!
i think , but i'm not 100% sure they might get leather door trims in Great Britain in top of the range. maybe Shambles will tell us,
also could be possible to have an upholsterer re cover your door in high quality leather.
Cheers

Well, ive tried it before. No one can do it by now here in Brasil. Only my seats and steering wheel are covered with leather. I think its because i30 is a new product here.

Ive thinking about the possibility of importing those leather door panel. Dont no. And replacing my plastics ones with the leather ones. If you can see, those plastics (or leather) peace at the doors can be removed.

Only the TOP version/model of the car here came with leather. Sadly. And its very expensive. Here is like 36k US dolar.

There isn't a specific name for it, it comes with Full Leather and ESP, just that.

If the top model comes with leather door trim then you should be able to order it as a spare part from your dealer.. but is it the same colour as in your model?

Surely that all depends on the conversion rate??  At one point last year that would have been £18000 which was close to the list price for mine (granted with the Sport Kit and 18" Alloys).

Likewise in the UK, our Premium model has the leather inserts.

That,s true. Cars in Brasil are very, very expensive. No reasonable answer for it. Sure, taxes have a big explanation for it. But, national ones are still expensive. Any way, I think we pay the most expensive car in the world. For example, I payed 30k US dolar for a i30 with out leathers an ESP.

An V6 ford fusion here cost a bargain of 47k US dolars. SUPER !!!!!!!!!!!!
