I'm not sure, I've only had one car before and it was a hyundai, it's in the law to give a buyer at least 2 years of warranty and then the dealers offer the third year if you take the car to them in inspections.

If you drive little as 15k km a year it enough to inspect the car once a year, or else it depends on how much you drive. I only drove my previous car 30k km in three years time so I only took it in once a year.

the icelandic way is "why give you more warranty if we don't have to"

I looked into that. Looks like it's the powertrain that gets the extra 24 months, but only if subjected to rigorous inspections.

Like shambles I looked into it.  The cover for years 6 and 7 were very very very very restrictive so it made impossible to submt a valid claim, in my view.

but look at it this way that's a good way to keep you going to a dealer for rip off service charges, and they do not normally have top techs working at dealers just apprentices as they don't pay that well. but everyone thinks just cause they sell the car they are the only way to go. who knows?
but if you don't go to the dealer and you need warranty they will make it hard i'm sure, thats how it work's. but read the fine print, as in most cases they only give warranty on broken parts not warn parts. like if your tyres wear out will they replace them? or if your brake pads wear out, or if your clutch wears out. or if your motor wears out? no they won't but if those parts fail and still have a lot of wear left in them when they fail thats when they replace. so think about it.

I believe in the U.S, all Hyundais come with a 10 year warranty!
I am not sure if that is 10 year bumper to bumper or not.
I suspect that it is the same as Mitsubishi here in OZ with 5 year bumper to bumper and five years for the drive-train.
All the same, thats not a bad warranty for what many call a throw away car

In Poland you would receive 5 year (3+2) unlimited kilometer warranty i.e. 3 years for the whole car + 2 additional years for drive system. We also have 5 years roadside assistance plus 10 years anti-perforation warranty.

In Sweden 3 years of full warranty and 9 years or 150 000 km on engine, start engine, turbo and intercooler, transmission, climate control, cooling system, brake system, esp, airbags, interior fan system and much more.

Compare to Ceed: 7 years!!! That is crazy.

All I can say is thank god I get 5 years. The way I am going I will need it!!!

Also, not sure if you guys are aware, you dont have to take your cars to the dealers to get them serviced inorder to maintain the 5 years.
If your garage uses genuine parts the warranty is still valid.
Both my brothers who are mechanics and my dealers confirmed this...
Parts at trade plus free labour is always better than paying the prices at the dealers.

Dale I take it "free" labour is/ are your brothers. If so then you may be contravening the following UK warranty condition:
"The Routine Maintenance Service Record is THE ONLY PROOF that the vehicle has been correctly serviced and that the warranty is valid. All routine maintenance servicing must be supported by a VAT invoice to provide adequate proof that the vehicle has been maintained correctly to reduce the risk of the manufactures Warranty being invalidated. The Routine Maintenance Service Record within the booklet must still be completed. The invoices must detail the Servicing Garage Name, Address, VAT number, Details of the Service carried out and parts that have been replaced etc."

Thanks for the info mate. They have their own garages and would be done within the guidelines you posted. They do there own cars and have never had any issues.

In Czech we have 3 years warranty, unlimited milleage. 2 years warranty is for coolant in A/C system and for battery.

Just thought i would add, here in Australia we get 5 year unlimited k, but that's only on a private use only car if it's bussiness they limit the k's, when a warranty limits the k's in effect they years mean nothing, as if you have a 5 year and a 130,000k warranty and you drive 60,000 a year in two and a bit years your warranty is over.
But all in all a good warranty for a cheap economy little car that does the job fine, just our mate Dale don't seem to like his, but i have driven a wide variety of cars and trucks & motorcycles in the past 40+ years and i'll tell you nothing is perfect no matter how much you pay, but one thing i can tell you is the i30 is by far the most economical car i have ever owned nothing else has come close to going as far on 1 litre or one gallion as this car and it's even better than motorcycles i've owned. the company 4 cylinder Toyota i drive uses 12 to 14 L/100K in sydney with me driving and i drive the i30 the same way just the Toyota is auto i'm always into service stations to put fuel into it ( but have fleet card) i hate it!
