They're ultrasonic so cyclists won't hear anything more than the car's wind, road and engine noises. Operation kicks in at about 50kph. It might be a bit hard to measure range.

Apparently Tassie is the number one place in the world for road kill (or so I've heard) Not a great statistic and one of the few negative things we hear from tourists.
A work mate of mine swear that these things work.

im far more weary of driving in Western Australia at Dusk after driving home from work 4 years ago and hitting a roo around 110km on my Toyota Aurion with a similar device fitted. Skippy hopped away, and I even drove home. However, $7500 was the repair bill Maybe device worked and kept his brothers away

Some intact, some not, Bit of a hit or miss affair ?
Given that, I fondly remember someone talking about his car's high wattage amplifier and speaker; it kept replaying the sound of screeching tyres and then a car crash.Cyclists would go bush, and it could hilariously panic a line of drivers who were stopped at traffic lights.
