Yep you have made a good decision. As Steve says there are always niggles and the i30 is still quite a new model for the Hyundai brand. I'm confident in saying it's their first proper foray into the high-end of the C class, and I reckon they've made a real good job of it too :D

Your only mistake was not choosing an oiler

Your site has provided me with all the info that i needed to make my mind up.
I have bought a 2010 i30 1.4 comfort in blue and i cant wait to get it next month.

What specifically has altered your thinking since you posted that comment last month?

Hi Moxey,

Of our 1160 odd legitimate members only a handful have got what you might call "lemons", that is vehicles with multiple significant or recurring faults...

If we did a poll on here asking how many would buy another i30 the results would be extremely positive (i'd put money on it)

I'm sure if this forum was for say the Holden Captiva (AKA the Craptiva) or the Ford Focus ... there would be a much higher failure rate (and much lower satifaction levels) ...

The general consensus on here is very positive....

You have made the right choice Moxey (you will be delighted...)

Thanks for the reassuring words. The reason i chose to buy an i30 was the great reviews that i have read on the net no bad press etc

Xamaxy
You are not buying a porsche or ferrari to expect it to work without a flaw because you invested like 1 mil euro in it, and even if you do i bet anything that even they will have few glitches.
Every single car has its few problems, but rest assured, so far hyundai i30 in its class beats all, fewer problems than any other car!!!!
Beside, 5 year warranty is more then enough for every problem that wants to appear to appear and to be solved .

Take a look at Intel PCs, kitchen appliances, furniture etc everything has here and there more or less glitches...what everyone is looking for is sort of a statistics, and by that i mean what is most likely to have no problems and work flawlessly ->i30 is one of that things!

moxey
i really like your signature i should have thought of that one

Great decision, the "problems" we are writing about are rare if you look at it - there are many users on this forum from all around the world.

You should maybe check some other vehicle-forums and see how much problems they have

If you look closely at any "problems" there have been amongst our expanding membership, I reckon that most of the grumbles are really niggly little things that on many other manufacturers cars we would be putting up with whilst we got the dealer to sort out the real problems.

I certainly take any grumbles about the i30 as an indication that it is human to have to find issues with everything and on here we really have to scrape the barrel when it comes to that.

I'll give you one million dollars if you can find another mass produced vehicle and does not have some faults.

Just look at any auto forum, and you will find allot of post with different problems.

One more thing.. We are probably very very "problematical" when it comes to maintenance if you ask me.

I know, few times I took the car to the service (any car) and complained about some noises, they used to find it amusing, because normally people ("regular people") drive with those noises for 100.000 km's and don't even bother/hear/care about it.

Moxy, in over 40 years and that many new cars i have not had one that was a problem all different brands. the i30 has been very dependable. in some area's i drive its remote and no mobile phone coverage ( unless you have sat phone). so every time i drive out there i'm putting compleat faith in my little i30 oiler it has never let me down yet
cheers

One million Icelandic "dollars" is about 50p in your money...

P.S. You can see by our reactions we all still have a lot of faith in and love for our little Korean cars...

Some of these little "problems" actually add to the character of the car and make it somehow more likeable...

We do not have problems with the i30 they are individual characteristics of the car.

The i30 is certainly the best car I have had from new, and I have had plenty of new cars, I would certainly buy another

Cheers

Dave

Well said,

I was mainly a Nissan man before this (and apart from a little rust in their early days) they generally make a pretty good reliable vehicle but the i30 has converted me to Hyundai at least for the forseable future (and to diesel as well )
