Hi guys n gals.
My first post was solved by some awesome members.
But now I have another problem

My radio turns on. All the functions work. But I get no sound.
Iv used a multimeter and got continuity on all the speakers. Everything is plugged in and tight.

Iv seen an awesome write up on how to upgrade to a newer stereo
But that’s not for me. My question is...

If I go to a wrecking yard and pull a stereo from an identical vehicle. Will it plug and play? Will there be any coding issues etc?

Thanks in advance. Also I’m open to suggestion on what else I can check. But fairly certain the head unit is cactus.

GD-01 stereos unfortunately are quite poor quality, yes you can plug and play and no codes are required.

Depend on the head unit I guess and whether there are harnesses and patch leads to suit, find a stereo you like then use Aerpro to search what wiring and fascia are needed by adding the stereo model number into the space provided.

Unfortunately not. It went in stages. First the radio dropped in and out. Then only Bluetooth worked (I was fine with this ) then Bluetooth stopped working.  :(

There’s aslautomedia who do repairs on the GD stereos though at $295 I would do the plug and play upgrade to a GD-03 unit from a wrecker.  https://www.aslautomedia.com.au/hyundai-i30-stereo-repair-service

Went to a local auto wrecker. 5 mins I had a stereo ripped out of a 2015 i30. Paid $100 (prob too much but oh well) 5 mins later had it plugged in a belting out some AC/DC. That’s a win in my book. Thank you all for the help and advice. Loving this group

$100 isn't bad, I guess it was a GD-02 model :undecided: otherwise you would require the usb lead and attached usb module.
