do anyone know the spec on the i30 paint from Czech, ie. what sort of paint used, how many layers, what sort of lack-er, harder used. etc etc... plz help...

i reason that i ask is that i feel that  the paint on my Heidi (i30) is below par,as it seems to chip easy (as mention on another tread). been to the dealer and he said its normal and its just stonechips, however i do know stone chips are a pain in the *ss but to happen on a car less then a year old plus being on the boot of the car worries me.  Should the paint withstand stone chips it bit more, is my paint to soft etc or does some one Else have the problem of easy stonechips on a new car... or is there a problem from the new Czech factory concerning the paint?... Vivid blue

Hi Ray

First thing I think you should try is to ask another dealer - do you have one anywhere nearby??

If not I would go back to your own dealer and stamp around a bit (no pun intended).  Take the body warranty booklet in with you and demand to speak to the manager and if he is still holding back tell him that you want the paint repaired under warranty and that they will need to get the Hyundai warranty assessor in to have a look at it.

Good luck

There is not even a hint of any problems on the back of my car. I have a couple of genuine stone chips on the bonnet which I've touched up. I also have a couple of minor chips in the windscreen.

Page 4 (2nd page in the pdf) column 2 tells you all about the paint specification:

I still think its more likely to be a zinc imperfections than stone chips on the back.
