Hi there, hoping to get some advice or guidance.

I have an i30 1.0 PDE 2017 hatchback with an orange engine light. I’m struggling to diagnose the issue within my engine bay.

Symptoms:

- Rough idle (noticeable vibration when cold and warm)

- High fuel consumption

- Amber check engine light

I’ve so far done the following:

-Replaced Turbo Boost Control Position sensor
-Cleaned throttle body
-Cleaned MAP sensor ( just bought a new one so putting that one in today)

Turbo seems fine as I don’t hear any unwanted noises, usual turbo sounds. Car is still punchy and wants to go, both urban and on the motorway.

I’ve taken it to a local mechanic (not a Hyundai specialist) and they suspect it’s the turbo but aren’t quite sure and would like me to get a second opinion on it.

I’m quite stuck at the moment as I really don’t want to sell the car but then again I don’t want to throw so much money at it by going to Hyundai directly.

I’ve heard online that it could be something to do with the actuator and to measure and adjust the voltage, but where do I measure voltage for this?!

I’m really struggling and some help would be great. Thanks in advance all.

Did you (or your mech) interpret the trouble code(s) that are causing the CEL?

I can’t speak on behalf of the mechanic but I have read about it.

They say it may be a problem with the EGWA (electronic waste gate actuator). This supposedly I can adjust to a correct voltage and there’s many videos regarding it on the T-GDI but when I look in the exact same spot on as it does on the video I can’t see the rod in which they show. Neither do I see where to measure a voltage. Seems like this version of the TGDI is quite rare.
