I'm on my second i30 diesel. The first one was an FD with 205,000 kms on it (bought with 90,000kms on the clock) when the insurance company wrote it off and the current one is a GD with 116,000 kms on the clock.
The old one always used to blow a puff of smoke on cold starting pretty much every time (morning start routine involved start the car and then reverse through a small cloud of smoke) and the new one does exactly the same. There's a few posts on here claiming that it's probably the glow plugs. Not sure about that in this case though because the car runs fine right from the off and also because I'm in Qld where it only gets cold for about 2 days a year, so it's unlikley to be glow plugs. The oil level on the old car never really varied and I've done 2500 kms in the new one and oil level seems to be stuck on the full mark on the dipstick. Any other possible causes mentioned here that I've missed out on?
