I had this happen on the rear door of my 2011 FD, and whilst I was contemplating how to cut the door card off, it just decided to unlock one day, after weeks of not unlocking. I then took the opportunity to replace the lock mechanism. Even with the door card off, it's hard to see how it would help, because you still can't get to the deadlock mechanism. It's all enclosed in the lock case, which can't be extracted unless you undo the screws holding it in, which you can't get to with the door closed. The apertures in the door inner skin aren't big enough to get at the lock from the side. All I can suggest is keep trying to open it with the key fob, and you may get lucky. Whilst the door is open, remove the door card and unplug the electrical connector from the lock, that will at least disable the remote locking while you're trying to solve it. On the FD, the door can then be locked and unlocked using the internal door handle but on the later GD I don't think that's possible.
On my car the sound coming from the lock as it locked/unlocked was noticeably different from the other locks. The deadlock has a little motor driving a leadscrew to isolate the lock latch from the flexible cable attached to the door handle. If the motor has worn brushes or the leadscrew gets stiff, it doesn't have enough oomph to unlock it. You should hear some noise from the lock, if you hear nothing there may a loose connection somewhere.
