Hello,

Last year I bought an i30 CW 1.6 CRDi (90 hp). As long as there is no cold weather there is no problem, but as soon as the temperature drops below 5-6 degrees (Celsius), the cold starting is difficult. The glowplugs were replaced last year (3 were bad), but the problem was not solved with the new glowplugs either. Since then the EGR valve, the glow plug power cable bridge and the battery have been replaced. The problem was not resolved. This year it is even harder to start, and white smoke comes out of the exhaust after starting, and there is a strong diesel smell around the car. All signs point to a bad glow. 

I read on this forum that there are two types of glowplugs for this type:
367102A200 and 367102A700

Does anyone know the difference between the two types of glow plugs? Is it possible that the cold start problem is caused by the wrong type of glow plug? 

My car currently has this: 367102A200
Is it possible that the EURO5 type of engine (with DPF) needs the other type of glow plug?

I'd be looking at the injectors not the glow plugs as long as you've checked the glow plugs have voltage.

Glow plugs are good, tested.
Is it possible that the injectors only cause problems at cold start? I don't experience any problems while driving: the engine is strong, fuel consumption has not increased.

I don't understand why there are 2 types of glow plugs for this type if this does not cause problems.

I checked and this glow plug really fits: 367102A200 

I contacted with a company to check the injectors. It's strange that there are no error codes, and there are no problems while driving.

To be fair, it could be the injectors/fuel rail but then it could also be a crank position sensor, camshaft position sensor or even a misreading temperature sensor, a proper diagnostic machine may show an error code or try reading the live data to see anything odd, what diagnostic have you used?

I don't know exactly, the mechanic used it. In the case of the EGR valve error it wrote a clear error code. Definitely not Hyundai specific diagnostics tool.

Hi Everyone!

I'm writing to share that we found the solution to the problem. It turned out to be a faulty 80A fuse, which was preventing any voltage from reaching the glow plugs.

I hope this can help someone else too. I had previously replaced the entire glow system (glow plugs, glow relay, glow cable, battery, and even 2 injectors) all to no avail. The problem was finally solved by replacing a €10 fuse, and the car has been working perfectly since then.

The fuse can blow when the heat shield above the turbo comes in contact with the plugs. On some models there is not much clearance
