Hi All,
I have a new to me 2018 i30 Premium Diesel 7 spd DCT, with 33k kms. It only had 28k kms when purchased in August.
During normal, relaxed driving, moving off from a stand still is fine and there's no issues at all. The car moves away smoothly and transmission happily does it's thing changing up when expected.
But...when moving off in an, ahem, much more "spirited manner" (especially in Sport mode) - which may or may not invoke some wheelspin - a loud clunking sound can be briefly heard and felt 3 or 4 times from the RH side of the car.
Hard launching is not something I do often, but if and when the need arises, I'd prefer it if it did not sound like the transmission was about to fall on the road.
It kinda' sounds and feels a bit like the old 'axle tramp' that we used to get on leaf-sprung rear suspension on those old Holdens and Falcons from the 60's and 70's.
Could it be a failing engine mount on the RH side of the engine, and that it is only being 'stressed' to it's limits when launching in a spirited manner?
When moving off from a dead-stop, from time to time there is also some ever so slight shuddering, but never enough to be of concern. Could it simply be that the clutch for the 1st gear is simply taking up and doing its thing? It is entirely possible I am overthinking it, being a new nervous owner.
However, my neighbour with a similar vintage i30 N Line with DCT said he had the shuddering at around 50k kms and had the transmission rebuilt under warranty. So of course, I'm thinking the worst.
Any suggestions are most welcome folks and many thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts.
