Hi peeps.

Wanting to get some more experienced opinion than my own about my rear rotors.
Would it be reasonably ok to not to replace them along with my brake pads that I will be doing soon?
Probably going to grab these pads: :link: Bosch QuietCast Disc Brake Pads - DB1943BKL | Supercheap Auto

From what I can see there are no deep grooves, and the rotors feel smooth running my thumb across.
Thickness from what I can research is still good. ~9.5mm
Brake pads (minus ones uneven wear) feel smooth and no grooves.

Funny thing is, even though I've got 260,000km on the ODO I cannot recall, and/or find any record of myself or anyone else ever replacing the rear pads or rotors.
Is it normal for rear i30 brake pads and rotors to last this long ? Or am I just more likely missing a record of them being replaced  :P :P :P  not 100% sure.
Front pads usually last me give or take about 60,000km

Cheers, and Happy new year !!

From memory, rear discs are 10mm thick and minimum thickness is 8mm, so your discs are only 25% worn. I don't know how you're measuring the thickness, I use a micrometer to measure the thickness where the pads make contact, well away from the lip on the outer edge which can give a false reading. On my old FD diesel I had replaced the rear discs 4 times by the time it reached 296,000 miles (473,000km) and the 4th set went on at 296,000 miles.

On my later GD diesel I replaced the rear discs at 72,000 miles. when the discs were down to 8.4mm thick

@Misha.  I do the same as Brendan P posted above: "...use a micrometer to measure the thickness where the pads make contact, well away from the lip on the outer edge which can give a false reading."  Use a micrometer, not a vernier caliper, for best results.

You said: "From what I can see there are no deep grooves, and the rotors feel smooth running my thumb across."  I cannot see enough of the rotor surfaces from the photos you posted to assess their condition.  Cracks, as such, in rotors are usually obvious but crazing or spider web cracks are harder to assess.  Rather than use a thumb to gauge smoothness I scratch a fingernail down or across the rotor surface as it should give you a more sensitive indication of any "bumps and dips".
