At some point in its life my i30 GD (2013) has had the auto dimming rear view mirror cleaned by someone at the car yard when it was in for a service, however they've used something that has ruined the treatment and so the mirror has these massive dirty grey swirls all over it that can't be removed. I'd like to replace the mirror with a "new" mirror that retains the same functionality, but I'm having a very hard time finding the right replacement.

I'm in Australia so we never got the fancy mirrors that other countries got that had the rear view camera built in or the "dial for assistance" type features, ours was just a very simple one button on/off auto dimming mirror.

I'd love to know if there are similar mirrors from either the i30 GD range that are a drop in (I've found a 2015 GD unit on eBay but not sure if they'll have changed wiring etc).

Thanks in advance :)

Ended up finding the part number via partsouq (thanks random thread in this forum for mentioning it!) and found it on AliExpress!

Nice one, let us know how the replacement goes.

Not sure if anyone on the forum has replaced the photochromatic mirror.

The replacement mirror arrived today (I'd purchased it from an Ali Express store called "New Oem-accessories Store" after finding it via part number 851013X000).

Found a video online ( :link: - YouTube) that demonstrated replacing the mirror for another vehicle, figured it would be the same process and it was.

Basic steps were to pop off the plastic shroud/trim piece that covers the arm the mirror clips into, then locate the set screw on the bottom of the mirror and unscrew it.
Then slide the mirror forward and it comes off.
Un-clip the wiring, and basically reverse the process to put the new one on.

Got the mirror adjusted back into place. Turned the car on and made sure the mirror turned on/off (it did). Will be able to confirm the mirror dims correctly in the morning on my next drive.
