yeah yeah it had to happen [just shutup eye30 ]

when i turn off the ignition after a decent amount of driving i get a weird higher pitch whine for about 1 second.
at first i thought it was in the ignition area itself, but after a couple of times listening i'm now thinking its the right door lock disengaging.

it's been occurring for maybe 3 days now, and doesn't happen every time. for instance if i turn the ignition straight back on and off it doesn't happen, presumably because the door lock doesn't engage. but if i manually engage/disengage the lock it doesn't happen either. if i do a short drive to engage the lock it doesn't occur either, so i'm thinking a certain amount of lock down time must need to go by.

maybe it just needs a wee bit of oiling or something? i only just had my 15000 so is it something i wait on or pop into Hyundai asap to address?

go there and get them to have a look... epecially if you think its to do with a door lock... im not sure, but if they arent "fail close" then it might unlock and let the door open if it fails and you dont want that at 110kph!!!

didn't even think of that, gee thanks  :P
i know though since i can't get it to make the noise on cue, i can't get them to listen to it. maybe i need to try and tape it first

When the car has been parked over night, put your ear to the door before you unlock it and see if you can hear it then. May look a bit odd, so make sure no body is looking  :D

well tried listening externally yesterday, but i could not hear anything 'squealy' - just a rather loud thunk in my ear.

today i had two drives/unlocks but there was not even a suggestion of a squeal/whine today. which has me slightly stumped actually.
she's being difficult.

lots and lots and lots and lots of rain. but she's kept in a garage so i don't think the bit of rain she's copping while driving is getting in anywhere. and it rained yesterday to while i was out.
could be moisture content though somehow, it was squeaking when it started drying out generally in the air. i dunno.

i guess i just wait and see. it either comes back or doesn't.

I think my car makes a high pitched noise when I turn off the ignition. I thought it was something to do with the imobiliser......
