Now this might not be of interest to anyone else but it sure got me going.
We have 2 HDTV set top boxes hooked up to our TVs. One is an old type, the other an LCD but out before high def. digital sets were available. Anyway, the second set top box is an Olin brand and has a record function via USB and I often use this on the older programs on the newer digital free to air channels.
However, the recording is done in a DTV format ending in .ts I wondered about converting them to something I could watch on my computer. Sometimes I connect the laptop to the tv and watch stuff off my hard drive.
Anyway I went on the web and found all these complicated methods of converting HDTV files to mpeg. Too hard. So I gave the idea away.
Then, today I had an idea.
I simply changed the .ts suffix to .mpeg and PRESTO.
Job's done.
