but on a bit of a more serious note, looking at http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=31_529_201&products_id=850 there appears to be clips and a possible screw/allen key hole in the centre? I have no idea how you intend on getting the clips out but maybe you can contact KAI and see if they can scan the instructions since you *cough* are interested in purchasing this item from them but want to know how to go about it first *cough*
It's defo as stated before - a sharp turn anticlockwise. You'll need a strong hand, but I guess you've been down that path...
It looks as though the chrome surround below the actual knob might unclip and slide downward...

Thanks Carib looking at that picture it definitely looks like the silver collar slips down and then you push those two lugs in to release the knob .. but how much force does that collar require I wonder? If my knob was that hard to get off I reckon I would leave it alone UM ..
I would have said that the two lugs do nothing more than hold the silver collar in place once installed.The issue then is how to get that collar off to expose the grub screws which hold the entire knob in place.
This is going to end up being so obvious.My [next] bet is that the silver collar is disposable - fix and forget. They clipped it on at the factory and it isn't going anywhere, unless cut free from the plastic retaining tabs. What's the chance a new gearstick comes with a replacement collar?
Thanks for the input Bumpkin, Shambles & Dazzler. I have tried to move the chrome collar up, down, sideways, clockwise and anti-clockwise...it will not budge. I've tried pushing, pulling and turning the gear shift knob...nothing moves. Maybe a hacksaw might be the answer
