Update..
My car will be ready to drive away on Friday at Noon (or soon there after).

  I called Hyundai Head office in Melbourne and they confirmed mine has arrived but still on the docks.
Has to go through clearances, so maybe be a couple of weeks yet till I get it.

Why does it take so long to clear?

I assume it's the volume of cars to be moved eye30...that and paperwork. From what I understand, once the car arrives at the docks, it stays there 3-5 days before being moved to a second location (precar?? I think I heard) where the bond on the car is paid, then it's freighted to the dealer who does the pre-delivery in order for the customer to receive it.  All that can take up to 2 weeks. Long-winded process but that's bureaucracy for ya

25,000klm by April, it would take me 18 months to clock up that many K's.
You might have to come over and visit some of us i30 owners on the east coast to make up the k's .

Dealer called today to say the shipload of cars scheduled to arrive on Sept 19th had just been changed to October 5th.  At this rate I'll get a 2009 compliance plate..

Thats not good news.
So much for getting mine in the first week of October.

hahah that'll be a tough ask! i'm guessing you salary sacrificed? I did mine too and i believe when you pick up your car is when your km's start so that 25,000 will be pro rata'd to whats left of the FBT year.

Yeah I was just reading up about it - looks like it will be pro-rata kilometres. phew!  Cant seem to find anything concrete on ATO website but a few different info pages on novated leases state that it will be calculated on pro-rata.  1st Oct delivery will be 6 months into the FBT year, ie I only need to do 12501km's which will be japan-easy.

Hi everyone.  I ordered a manual SLX diesel on Sept 20th (Brisbane).  I was told that the next shipment is due in on October 10th.  The dealer was also adamant that the next batch due in would have cruise on the diesel but not the ESP.  He said the Protectz pack was still optional.  I'm hoping he is wrong.  Although, the base price we worked off in the negotiations was $25,990 and not the new $400 more price.  Should I be worried that he is pulling a swifty??

It's seems odd that your dealer is saying that your diesel is arriving without ESP.  I am expecting an SLX diesel myself (Melbourne) and I'm pretty sure - from reading this forum + when I spoke to my dealer, that the upgraded model comes with both cruise control (not SX) and ESP as standard.  Dealers can sometimes be clueless, if not "pulling a swifty" as you say.  I would suggest you contact Hyundai head office in your state and get the facts straight from there mate

Have a look at the Hyundai i30 web site. it states that the ESP and TCS is standard across the range and that CC if standard on SLX.
The dealer is WRONG!. The can not charge you for protectz pack as it is no longer an option on cars that are on the boat / at the docks now..

May I suggest that you point him to the Offical web site and point out that he is wrong. The web site was recely updated and Protectz is no longer listed. Check the price tab. The SX still has curtain and side air bags as a $700 option but thats it..! (oh and metalic paint)

If you have Protectz pack on your contract then they need to give you back the money.. Dont expect that full $990 back. As this is RRP.. I got $600 back (Dealer cost)

get your dealer to look at the Hyundai web site - under "range and price" it clearly states ESP is standard on SX and SLX diesel, and also has the new price.

There is nothing to refund as I didn't order the Protectz pack anyway.  Let's hope it is on there as standard then.  Another reason that I am suspicious is that I was also looking at Suzuki Grand Vitaras before I settled on the i30.  The Vitara has also had a model update which now has disc brakes all round instead of drums on the rear (on all models).  The dealer was telling me that it was only the petrol models that had the upgraded disc brakes and the diesel model (that I was interested in) was still the same with drum brakes.  This was contrary to the Suzuki website which said it was all models.  I suspect that he just wanted to shift the yard full of old diesel models before the new ones came in.  Hence you can see my suspicion when the Hyundai dealer is telling me that the next batch of diesel i30s will have cruise but no ESP.

I suspect your dealer is clueless. He can't possibly sell you an older model i30 with cruise as standard but without ESP because it just doesn't exist.  All "older" models of the i30 in the diesel only did not come with cruise control from the factory.  However, just like the petrol the ESP/TCS was an option.....now it is standard on the diesel.

It's interesting to note though, that on the Hyundai webside under i30 range, that only the diesels have been up-specced.  The petrols still require the customer to pay an extra $990 for ESP/TCS.

I saw that before I went in and ordered the vehicle.  That was why I was asking the dealer if he was sure when he said it had cruise but no TCS.  I guess I just found it strange that the dealer didn't know what was on the new model and that set off the alarm bells in my head .  I thought maybe he has an old model that he wants to get rid of and he is going to get an aftermarket cruise fitted and pass it off as an updated model.  (Don't mind me it's just my paranoid mind working overtime)
