Mate, it has Free postage, so I guess he'll post it to you....

For that price, I would fly in, pick her up and drive her home.

Wouldn't cost much.

It doesn't have a reserve, so by ebay rules, should be sold.

Only three things that come to mind are; 1) stolen (should be easy to find out), 2) Encumbered (again nothing a REVS check wont fix, or 3) He has conned it off the 'elderly lady driver', and you might end up in a sticky fraud matter. I am unsure who keeps the car in this case, but would you want to take the risk.

Or it could be a deceased estate, and the family just wants the money...

Where was this one a couple of weeks ago when one of our newer members was looking?

That's a hard one (at $50 bids it will be lucky to get to $5000) surely they wouldn't sell it for that (unless it was stolen)

That's the minimum bid though, you win by placing the earliest "winning" bid so I wouldn't bother with 50 buck bids, the question is how much would you pay.

Being a petrol Auto I would only go to about 10K (but it would be worth more to some)

I noticed that the seller didn't list Registration details or VIN (although the photo shows Rego plate). When a question was asked (on ebay) the response was "to call". Call me sceptical, but I wouldn't touch this with a ten foot barge pole. Me smells a rat.

The registration expires on 07/08/2012.

It would be easy for a person in Sydney that is keen on the car to go and check it out though (full REVS check, etc). Personally I wouldn't buy a car from ebay, unless I was able to physically check the vehicle first. We had friends who NEARLY bought a boat on ebay. They were the successful bidder, and were asked to send money via Western Union, and then the boat would be delivered. They said, Cash on Delivery, or no sale. Apparently the seller wasn't keen on that, and was reported to ebay and Vic Police.

That's what got my friend's dubious about the deal. They offered (as the buyer) cash on delivery (to the seller), and the seller said no. The seller wanted Western Union or nothing (got a call from Fraud Squad instead).

At that price I would think that even if it did go wrong, you could part it out and still be ahead.

The other thing you would have, is if it did have any huge defects you could walk away.

The price could still go through the roof through, if I bid 8k, and the highest competitive bid at the moment was $4,500. If you come on with a bid of $8,050 the bid will jump there in seconds.

No doubt someone (possibly the owner with a different account) has a sneaky 8-10k bid on there in case it's still down low in the closing seconds.

http://booths.hyundai.com.au/ appears to be the selling dealer, and they say it was dealer serviced from new, so I guess you could get details from its first two services at least.
