Hi Brian, is the ix20 a 4wd as we don't get that model over here.
How does it compare to the i20.

its deceiving to look at,i really thought it was a much smaller car all round.   :goodjob:  is the warranty 5 years like the i30?

Hi Trish, no only front wheel drive, it is one of what we call Supermini MPV and as such is based on the i20 platform.
The mechanicals are all i20, with suspension tuning to suit UK roads and much bigger than the i20.  I have not driven one yet, but have sat in one and the elevated driving position gives superb visibility, the rear seats are positioned higher  than the front allowing the wee one a better view, the dash has a very nice alloy/piano black gloss centre console.

Steve, yes it comes with 5 year warranty, 5 years roadside assistance and 5 year free health checks.

Don't know if you can all see this but there is a video review here if you click the link on the right hand side of the page.

Another factor for me is that I buy my cars on finance and therefore would be in the position of having a brand new car for the same payments as I am making on my almost three year old one......................

That video link was a good watch.. David Frost meets Richard Attenborough (The reviewer reminded me a bit of both )  Didn't really like the styling to start with but it actually grows on you and I was surprised how much bigger it looked than the Getz  :scared:

Hi all

OK, had a test drive, the 1.4 petrol is very nice, more power than I expected, accelerated uphill (steep hill) in 5th gear nicely, didn't feel any less gutsy than the i30 if I am honest, then again I have checked and it has a similar power/weight ratio to the Fiesta/Corsa so not as shabby as the figures may at first suggest.
Slightly less specced than the i30, even in Style (Premium) guise, but has ESP, EPS, Electric windows all round (only drivers is Auto), HALO, ISG, Ipod/USB connectivity, bluetooth, dash shows gear change indicator for "optimum" driving, outside temp display, A/C, front fog lights, panoramic sunroof, manual blinds but electric roof itself, reverse parking sensors which can be switched off from the cabin.

Driving:  Excellent visibility, steering light and precise (lighter than the i30 on 18" wheels certainly, but that will be down to the smaller wheels with Continental PremiContact low resistance tyres, very easy to drive overall, gearchange very smooth, clutch lighter than the i30 (I didn't stall it and neither did Kim, suggesting it is less prone than the i30 from new or we are used to the i30!!)

To the proposed deal then

OTR Price for ix20 - £14395
CAP guide for my car £5950

 :scared: :scared:

Much pencil sharpening later, bumpkin signs off on a deal which gave me £7000 for mine and a reduced APR on the finance which sees my monthly payments increasing by £5 per month compared to now.

Some paperwork to sort out, however swap takes place on Friday.

Some shoogly mobile pix of my new toy, ix20 Style BlueDrive in Ice Blue Metallic  :D :D

I then stuck the SOLD sticker on the screen

Nice colour and love the front shape.

I looked at them the last time I was at the Dealers.

I found the cabin space about the same as the i30 but the boot space was about 2/3rds of the i30.

Looks like I was wrong :P

If I were you I'd have kept that i30 for another year as you've already absorbed all the original VAT and a whole heap of depreciation.

Still, I've driven one [loaner] and must admit they do drive very very well.

Not the car for me, though (boot's too small )...

Thanks folks :goodjob: :goodjob:

Don't worry, I will be sticking around, I have made some superb friends on here and have no intention of letting that go :goodjob: :goodjob:

I have a soft spot for the i30 and have had a great time with mine over the past three years.  I am hugely enthusiastic about the entire Hyundai range and will admit to a slight feeling of trepidation about letting my special i30 go :blubber: :blubber:

It will be interesting to see if she re-appears on this site in the future, she is certainly going to the dealers with the sticker on the rear window, hope they don't remove it!! :fum:

And so the savings start, my insurance premium is £25 per annum less than the i30 :goodjob:

Car is registered and going for PDI tomorrow.  I have asked for HALO to be switched on and there is a software update for the ix20 apparently which they will be installing also.

Looking good for the swap on Friday morning.
