TV technology changes quickly. Over the last decade, there’s been a wholesale shift from CRT to flatscreen sets – and the latest trend is for curved screens.

The theory behind curved TVs is that mimics our natural field of view, making the viewing experience more realistic.

These curved screens where discredited some time back as just a gimmick....   I can't recall what show it was on and it was quite a while back too.

CRTs were curved too... (or still are if they're still being used).

They reckon little if any benefit in a curved 55" (actually makes it look smaller)

They do however reckon the 80+ inch models may benefit from the curve (but that size OLED is going to be very expensive for a fair while yet) :sweating:

 I think the curvature is now concave, not convex. :victory:

I disagree, it's a good idea if you're at the focal point, but on any side, there will be an advantage on one side and an accentuated disadvantage on the other. Flat for me AFAIC.

Take it for what it is - an attempt by manufacturers to add a feature that may justify buying a new TV (for some). :victory:

Saw one in the shop yesterday, very thin design & beautiful picture, it was an LG. Still happy with mine though.

Surely the curved screen is better suited to nearfield applications like large desktop monitors?
