Yep.
Nice try, but no cigar.

Just reminded my son on FB about the greatest April Fool's Day joke ever in our household.
We had been watching the approach of Halley's Comet for a few weeks.

As the comet drew closer it became obvious it was not going to reach the spectacle of some of its previous visits but the boys and I watched it nightly.
One morning, (April 1st, 1986  :whistler:) I raced into their bedroom yelling that overnight the comet had brightend and was visible in daylight across half the sky.

They fell over themselves getting out of bed and running out onto the back deck, scanning the sky.
When they turned around to me, puzzled I just said quietly, "April Fools" and walked back inside.

Was one of my finest moments.  :victory:

That will make work interesting, if the company I work for gets that contract this year. We normally do the medical standby for that. Can see crashes coming

Even back in the early 70's the track mods necessary to meet safety standards were enormous. We ran a rallysprint at Lakeside Raceway which used the track in reverse.
Not a problem under rallying rules as they were at the time, but I seem to recall the idea prompten some to concider running a race meeting in reverse.

It's not as simple as just reversing the pit exit and entry due to the need to consider visibility.
Then every flag marshall point whould have to be relocated - for safety and for flag visibility to the drivers.
All the run off areas would need to be rebuilt on the other side of the corner.

And that's just the things we came up with in 1973 at a CAMS State Council meeting..
Imagine the fun a current CAMS track safety committee would have with the proposal.

Sure this is just another April Fools Day joke and it's fascinating to fantasize about it, but it's never gonna happen.  :p

Yes, I admit it, I trust everyone so implicitly here, it didn't occur to me that it wasn't true. Mind you, I thought there would have to be many problems associated with that idea.

I'll probably get caught again next year too.
