  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
I'm trying to locate the indicator relay. Have pulled the inspection cover below the dashboard off but can't locate it. I can hear it but can't see it. Any ideas???

Its located Up behind the instrument cluster'ish. To get access to it you need remove the crash pad under the steering wheel, then turn the indicators on.

It is very difficult to visually identify the relay, so stick you hand up to the right hand side of the steering column/dash. There are multiple relay blocks, feel around these relays using the clicking to locate it. It can be a bitch to remove as there are two moulded clips holding it in place.

Perhaps UM is Irish and feels it needs fixing as the indicators keep going on and off..... :undecided:

Half of us don't hear it with our recently disclosed hearing defects.  :blubber:

I'd like to go for LED indicators and will need to do some mode with the relay. And, no I'm not Irish

About a month ago, accim posted a link to the Kia Ceed system manuals.  In one of those are the wiring diagrams.

I don't know how much the i30 is similar to the Ceed, but according to the wiring diagrams (page SD950-5) the relay that makes the ticking noise does not drive the indicators.  Its sole purpose is to make the ticking noise.

The indicators are driven by the "SWITCH MODULE" (page SD925-1).  Unfortunately, there is not much info about that module's internals (SD950-5).
