And with good reason......They might be great when they are new but the shine soon wears off when you have to maintain them.

As for the Skoda?
I suspect the author just threw that one in for a laugh..... :winker:

The key to an excellent used car is what its going to cost you when it stuffs up. European cars are usually high tech, no one likes working on them so its going to cost a bomb, there is a reason why you don't see too many really old euros, and that is that they have an engine or tranny go and its so expensive to fix, and donor cars so difficult to find, that they end up not getting fixed.

I get this! Spent Saturday looking at cheap cars for my daughters boyfriend, he passed his drivers test on Wednesday last week. So we trawled the Car Sales sites & came up with 6 Puegeot 206's (he & my brixen like them) Plus 2 Mitsubishi Colts circa 2001.

All the Peugeots were sheds... honestly... rubbish...

Colt 1 was a 1.3. red but "not as advertiised" in terms of documentation...

Colt 2 was a 1.6, 1 owner (a lady) warranted 64k miles, full stamped S/H in excellent condition, obviously looked after & cared for, with a 12 month warranty.

Snapped it up, drives like new, £1,100.
