Is the sunroof a mod done as a genuine Hyundai fitting? Would love to know how I could get a sunroof in mine.

Speaking of mine. I took posession a week or so ago. I too will post pics soon with full detailed story.

Would love to see pics of mask!
the sun roof I'm getting fitted is the same as my dealership was going to get fitted and from the same sunroof place, the price is $800 cheaper for me to drop off my car and two days later pick it up.its a bit rude the dealer marked the price up to drop a car off only five kms up the road and then have it dropped off by the sunroof fitter two days later.when i mentioned the mark up to the sunroof guy ,he said the dealerships price was fairly rude also

here ya go dazz. the sunroof will close itself when you turn off the ignition or if it rains.i can make it stay open by pressing the open button before removing the keys.the rooflining is fully fabricated and the original isnt used.the center roof light has been mooved backward by around 8",thats where i think it should have been from the factory anyway, it now lights the  rear of the car better.

Thanks for that Steve.. Thank the wife for the nice pix won't you...

Very tidy installation - don't forget to wear sunscreen or a hat..

Your head might get a bit hot in Melbourne summers...  :D

P.S. I have had a sunroof in a couple of previous cars they certainly give the car a nice open and airy feel..

my 17 year old sons car is the brown car in the background,he wants a sunroof like mine now. I'm building a new engine for it at the moment,102,000kms and it snapped a timing chain and its bent all the valves.

Looks red to me...  (I wouldn't be spending 1000's for a sunroof on a car of that age...)

hey 2i30s! your car is looking sweet! mind me asking what you used as the mask since you stated it was a stick on, did you cut it our yourself or was it preorder to size? If possible do you know the place you got it from/name of the item?  Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks!

Waiting to see where the modding bug will take you next

my wife thinks I'm an adult trapped in a teenagers mind  mods   the black vinyl i used is an industrial style i got from a company that does computerised graphic signs, billboards and shopfronts.i was given it as off cuts.I'm sure I've got a small bit left,i will look tomorrow and see if its got a brand name on the back of it.i placed a piece on the front of the car and stuck it down with masking tape and drew a line on it where it needed to be cut.i removed it,cut it and then carefully started to peel the backing off and used a squeegee to push the airbubbles out, finally i used a hairdryer to remove any air bubbles that where left.

you i30 just keeps getting more and more awesome! would be awesome if you masked the bonnet of your car as well like some of the korean i30s  but with this adhesive vinyl, wouldn't it lift in extreme heat or discolour? My last pair of adhesive P plates on my car had both discoloured and started to lift, but if it was cheap to replace, so it can't be too bad!

Also, have you had any problems when washing the car and if it catches or anything (I use the meshy Meguiars washing mit)? I really like your idea and even if I could get some from bunnings or rock over to some other shop it'll be cheaper than the $295 US that KAI wants for their CF grill accent  :-[
