  im off to get new wheels, da du du dun dun da da.  well, second hand but new for my i30. oe spec coupe 2005 5 split spoke 17s.  then the grill and lower front mess are getting changed for a rally spec feel.  will post pics as i get there.

Is you car alredy fitted with 17" wheels. If not - as detailed in a recent thread - you need to fit spacers to the steering rack to limit its stroke.

  sorry guys both for delaying the update and for dissappointing news.  the guy i went to see was a complete rip off merchant and wanted 300 for 4 hyundai coupe 2005 rims and tyres.  the price was good but only 3 rims were gonna be ok and 2 tyres.  GUTTED!!!

Never mind, but if anyone knows of a set of hyundai coupe 2005 17inch rims with tyres please let me know.

Forgot to ask about an earlier thread about spacers.  the car does support upgrade to 17 inch but currently has 15 inch steels. i understand why the spacers are required but if the platform supports 17's is it still needed?

its all a bloody nuisance cos the car is less than year old so warranty gets in the way of upgrading.  yes the replacement part has its own warranty but if the suspension fails for whatever reason i know hyundai will try and get out of the agreement and i' then stuck with the bill.  this is why i want coupe alloys - they are nice looking and hyundai OE.  i may still bite the bullet though.

Your local tyre and wheel shop should have some deals on wheels that will be compatible with your model. We replaced the standard 15" steel wheels on the Wife's CW with 15" alloys as soon as we could organise it...

That knob looks pretty standard have you tried unscrewing it anticlockwise?

no but i will do wen get back to it after work.  the reverse mechanism is a lift action silver doohicky under the chin of the stick, if u know what i mean.  will this affect the unscrewing of the head?

I'm here.  to remove the manual gear knob,twist the gear knob anti clockwise and it will come loose and screw off. the reverse lock out collar is held in place by a spring in beetween the knob and the collar,be carefull when you remove the knob that the spring doesent go flying.      cant wait to see your mods.
