My I30 1.6 petrol, 10K last Thursday when I last drove it. Today I can't even open the door with the key, seems the battery is completely flat. Can anyone tell me how to open the bonnet from the outside so I can charge the battery... at least I can get to the dealer then!

Won't open even with the key in the lock??

Did you try ringing the Dealer for help or advice or are they closed?

The 2011 model comes with Roadside assistance but not sure about yours??

Hope you get it sorted without too much grief  :'(

Can only open from within.

The door should open manually by using the key in the lock on the drivers door.

The one and only time my key fob threw an izzy fit and wouldn't work, I was able to insert the key and the car opened no problem.  This is a real puzzle for sure, I would have thought that mechanically unlocking the car would have been fool proof.  How bloomin wierd  :scared: :scared:...

Do let  us know the outcome, incase we're ever confronted with this dilemna.

Good luck with it.

Hello, thanks for your messages.  Well after several attempts the door opened with the key (phew) so I could then start the car with a battery pack. Battery was absolutely flat though, all doors properly closed and and no obvious sign of a light being left on (and I looked carefully) very disconcerting for a 1.5 year old car.

This isn't the first to report a flat battery.

Will be interested to know what is causing batteries to go flat so soon in there life!!!!!!

My battery went flat last December - it turned out that I had not closed the rear hatch fully and the boot light has flattened the battery over the two days (in all that snow) the car was not used. I am now paranoid at checking that the direction indicators flash when I lock the car to ensure it is properly locked.
