New cam arrived today :D

... You need at least a good class 6 sd card, if not faster, or the video seems to stutter on play back  :goodjob:

Not wrong

The 8gb uSD card I've tried doesn't record well without jittering or frozen frames, unless I reduce the framerate to 20FPS and the resolution down to lowest.

Can't seem to find info as to whether I can use a SDHC card (class 6) with this, which would allow me to set the desired framerate & resolution, so I emailed the seller.

(PS.. it plays back just fine using the HDMI port)

I'm using a 16GB class 10 card without to many problems. But still get out sound sinc on occasions. I have purchased several cards over the last year from mymemory.co.uk  They seem to offer good prices. Most of the cards can be purchased from flebay for cheaper, but hope the cards I purchase from mymemory are genuine. Not saying flebay cards aren't.

The 16GB card from mymemory cost about £17 with free delivery.

EDIT

Just looked:

Transcend 8GB SD Card (SDHC) Class 10 - £8.99
Transcend 16GB SD Card (SDHC) Class 10 - £18.99

Thanks for the info.

Ebay seller has just replied and confirmed that SDHC is fine so I'll get a 16gb card ordered. Tried to record my journey in this morning but it stops and closes down "Goodbye" after exactly 1 minute each time (not connected to power, but battery at 100%). Time to check the settings.

Just tried a 32gb SDHC and it still stops recording after 1 minute, shutting completely off. Tried it connected to the cars power supply and it didn't stop. Left that one with the ebay seller.

I only ever use the batt in the car. Just leave it to charge at home so ready for next trip.

Have you tried a System Reset. Or do you have Motion Detect ON, but that should not turn the unit off.

Or is it just turning off the screen because its on batt power   but still recording.

Although these units all look the same, I think they may have different firmware on them. perhaps the Chinese are making clones of clones

Just check all the menus. I don't see anything on mine about it shutting down, but the menus seem to be different on some units. Hope you can get it sorted.

The internal battery was fully charged. It just puts up the "Goodbye" screen, then shuts down . The strange thing is, the video files are exactly 60 seconds long when it closes down. It also closes down 60 seconds after no buttons are pressed, if previewing.

I'll let the seller decide what to do about it ;)

And this is why I want to record my journeys.

(had to record low quality without sound, until my fast SDHC card arrives)

Keep an eye on my traffic light filter (I'm turning right)...

From what I can see the Peurgot and the Toyota should not have come forward.

Your light had changed to Green.
Therefore, the light controlling them had changed to RED before they had cross the the Stop line.

However, even thro' the light controlling you was green you still have to make sure "it is safe to proceed".

But if there had been an accident the vid could be use as evidence that the 2 cars "jumped" the lights.

Yep - they came from behind their red light.

Our right turn filter only usually lets two cars through so we have to get off to a brisk start when we get the green light.

The other thing I noticed is you are stopped 1 car place back re the car on the left.

Is this because of a tight turn for large vehicles who turn left from the road on the right?

Yep - large wagons need a huge turning circle

I bought one of these from a shopping channel and it works very well. It has G meters, GPS and constant video recording.

Steve & Lester, i know that looks normal to you, but here in Sydney those type or right hand turns off traffic lights are long in the past. when our lights first change here we have gree arrows so, right turns in both dirrections go first then they get a red arrow then the straight ahead lanes and left turns go. the right turn lanes have to wait for next set of lights. this is in New South Wales ( Sydney )
in Victoria they have some odd ball rules in the city of Melbourne should get 2i30s to record a drive through Melbourne , first time i saw what they do i could not beleave it

Glad to say you kept your cool.
What do you use as camera, and set up ?

I used one of these from eBay (though not from that seller)

Despite their claims of it being "HD", I find I have to record at the lowest framerate (20fps) in VGA (640x480) and without audio, otherwise it records stuttered, even though I have a class 10 SDHC card installed.

Gonna be changing it soon, purely for the quality issue (which is a bit poor)

Where are the boys in blue when you need them????

Now just imagine if there had been a car to your right and they had pulled in front of you and that so and so moving to the middle .......................... SPLAT............

We can't see the view to the side or behind you but was there any reason why they didn't pull behind you then into the third lane???

It's times like this you wish you had a blue light in the front window to switch on or to plonk on your roof.

Thank you anyway :goodjob:

The camera gives a very false impression of distances. When he undertook me our bumpers almost touched. I was in lane 2 as I'd just passed a lot of slowing down traffic exiting the motorway (dunno why as it was a clear exit), and he came from inside that queue to rejoin the main motorway, obviously not liking the fact that I was in lane 2 within a few seconds of passing a wagon.

Babis, i see that & more on Sydney motorways, if i took a camera like Steves & showed you what goes on here in some parts of Sydney would shock you. but it's not in all area's just some, we have multi culture i think some people just drive how they learnt to in country of origin. but i'm used to it, just have to be on the ball. thats in Sydney , in rural area's they drive more considerately.
