Our i30 is now just 30 months old. We like to keep it looking nice so decided to have it detailed by a local and the result is 120% great job. Stone chips and grime all gone, inside and out, looks new. I asked how they removed the scuff marks from the interior doors as before the detail they looked terrible. The detail-er said he cleaned them with a good detergent, plenty of muscle with a cloth and when dry a spray of "Tyre shine" The result looks spectacular. Thought it might be of interest as I am happy with the result :D

Drive with your windows closed - that'll stop the interior stone chips :P

Job sounds like a good'un :D  How much did they charge and how long did they take?

Sorry about no reply to your questions. My fault for not opening "show new replies to your posts"  I am learning so please forgive me

Q.1
    Is this bloke in Brisbane?
A. No he is in Bundaberg and not far from the Rum factory

Q2
How much did they charge and how long did they take?
A.  $200 and took a day and a half

I suggest that anyone interested should come to Bundaberg for the day and enjoy the product of our rum factory while waiting for the detail. Bring a spare driver who does not drink.

Since learning this I have several times wiped clean the interior of the car then sprayed tyre shine on the doors and dash. Gee they look great and I hope other members have also found it better than other products sold that claim to be for this purpose. I found they are useless.

I would be concerned about making the top of the dash more reflective. The swept back angle of the windscreen in modern cars tends to show reflections of the dash and the vents. This results in more prominent reflections. Making the dash surface even slightly more shiny will make this worse.

We could market this as a new HUD system Alan.   You get this sorted Alan, start selling it and we'll split the profits 50/50.

No problem as I have a Dash mat .

And this 50/50 business does not suit me. Where do I fit in cause I wana be rich also?

Hmmm, not overly keen on that idea.

Tyre dressing is an exterior product, it is designed to nourish rubber with the side effect of making the tyres black again.  It is usually a fairly greasy type of product which will be spread across carpets or glass very easily after it has been rubbed against by shoe or the back of the hand etc.  It is not designed to impregnate plastics and will instead sit on the surface of the plastic and retain a level of greasiness.  This is not correcting the scratched appearance on plastics, merely covering them up for a while.  It will also attract dust quite quickly as it remains "wet".

There are plenty of interior trim dressings available which are formulated for dashboard and interior plastics, dry to a matt haze preventing reflections and which offer a level of nourishment to the plastics not afforded by an exterior dressing.

My personal favourite is this one :link: Pink Sheen trim dressing - By Autobrite - Interior Trim Dressings & Protectants - Interior Cleaning

I am a dinosaur  so I still use Armourall on the inside plastics.  However I have graduated from painting my tyres with Kitten Tyre Black and now use K Mart 5 Star Tyre spray @ $4 a can, the more you use the more you save.   Just like buying ones plonk from Dan Murphys, the more you drink the more you save. :happydance:
