I picked up this very unique Suzuki Carry van in January it was a one owner deceased estate been left in a shed for some 20 years after the owner passed away. The van has just over 40000 origanal klm on it has all the tool kit etc. I have only found out of one other van like this sofar in Australia and its not in good condition.
Picking up the little van

The motor under the load floor

Spare wheel hides behind the fold down bumper

The van now back on the road :goodjob:

I had a Mazda Bongo van back in the dim dark ages. Every time I took it on the open road, semitrailers would blast me sideways as they went past.

Great pics Jamie, but the van's like an elephant - nice to look at but you wouldn't want to own one. Well I wouldn't

I remember in the seventies when Suzuki brought out the LJ50 4Wd with the three cylinder two stroke engine.
It sort of sounded like a sewing machine but gee, they were popular.
I used to live in a town called Manjimup and the dealer down there was one of Australia's top selling LJ50 dealers - they were everywhere.
No one could get 100,000 kms out of the engin before a rebuild. Lots tried but fell just short.
Then they brought out the LJ80 which was a four cylinder four stroke.
Suzuki made some very sweet running engines back then. I had one of those for a while.

Nice Bongo Ugly, The good thing with the suzuki is the trucks don't blow the van around i was worried that it might be badly effected from the trucks but they don't

Dave this van has basicly the same motor as those lj50 4wd infact the engine code for the van is lj50.

The Bongo in the photo isn't my old one, it went to heaven years ago.

Mine was yellow and a dead ringer of the one in the photo, even the same sliding side window.

My brother had one of these, 540cc of pure power!
Cruising speed out on the highway was around 75-80kph......
We did a road trip up through Dargo, Bright, Wangaratta, Albury then back home via Omeo......
The highlight was trying to sleep in the non reclining bucket seats on New Years Eve alongside the Hume Highway just out of Albury....

I'm actually a fan of 2 strokes.... :D

So much simpler and so much more power for their capacity compared to 4 strokes....it's such a shame to see them pretty much completely disappear.... :'(

I get about 91 klm/h top speed unless i am going down hill  I am looking at getting a taller diff ratio as it revs way to much at high speeds and this should then be able to get atlest 100 klm/h.
