Now this is really off topic and posting here as nowhere else.

I have an electric fan oven.
The fan is working so the power is getting to the oven.
The oven is not heating up.
The light for the temperature and the light for the on/off is not illuminating.

Doing a google it says the element and or the thermostat are broke.

Both parts will cost circa £30 each.

Knowing my luck if I replace one it will be the other so looks like a £60 parts bill.

Anyone any other suggestions before I take it out and end up with a box of bits!!!!!

I repaired mine a couple of years ago....   Messy job but easy enough, took photos before dismantling the essential bits ready for reassembly.

My repair lasted less than six months ????    Rubbish parts who know?    Finished up at tesco direct looking for a cheap replacement and found one which was just a straight swap out plug in oven slotting into the same opening.

Just a thought Lester, you do know dontcha that building regs now require ALL electrical work to be signed off by a qualified electrician.

Good luck whatever ya choose   :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

I have had a similar problem for years (need a complete new kitchen...). The beeper (timer) also keeps sounding, so I turn it off at the main cooker switch. Then the only way I can get it to work is to keep flicking this switch OFF/ON, OFF/ON etc., until it fires up.
Also check that it is not on Auto - reset it to Manual.

Sorry Asa, not true.
Part P certification required only for certain jobs.

I reckon it's the switch that's cream crackered (too much arcing).

Stay away from the pub for a couple of weeks and buy a new cooker ;)

Ok on this as my brother has his own electrical business and NICEIC registered.

Looked at Curry's, asda, Tesco's etc and may be better to buy new one as this is so old you use candles to warm the oven up

Yep. If it's old, just turf it. Something else will go wrong before long otherwise.

DO NOT FIDDLE WITH THE WIRING IN THE OVEN, UNLESS YOU HAVE ISOLATED AND CHECKED THAT THE OVEN IS SAFE TO TOUCH.

Follow these instructions

We have a fan forced oven, same thing happened, didn't even google it,just went and got a new element and replaced it myself, took all of fifteen minutes, hasn't played up since, but like Phil has pointed out, first isolate the oven by turning off it's circuit breaker, thirty pound if you equate that to our dollars your getting the element cheap, the one for our oven was a little under $100.

If your oven is anything like ours, five screws to remove, three in the element cover two on the element locators, and plug in element
