About 40 miles from home is a village named Batsford – on the edge of which is a large estate
and arboretum. It was a brilliant sunny day today with a temperature of 17C so we decided to visit the arboretum for a nice leisurely stroll followed by a nice cool pint in the local pub.

I took a few snaps on the way












Towards the end of the walk we sat on a bench under some trees and out of nowhere came a swarm of ladybirds – we were covered with them and Libby was not too pleased because they were getting tangled in her hair.  We stood up and shook our clothes and within a minute or two were gone. I managed to get a photo of a straggler.

I had not seen that article John - but it appears in today's daily mail. We noticed that the ladybirds were a variety of colours and didn't think too much about it other than "Coo, how unusual". WE know different now.  The amazing thing was how many of the little buggers were swarming under the trees - no wonder we found an unoccupied bench. 100 metres away there was not one to be seen.

Lovely spot.
There's an arboretum at Sherwood in  Brisbanes west. Mostly Australian flora though. But it lines a bank of the Brisbane River and is a great place for a picnic or a walk.
