Petrol smell in car

I have a 59 plate auto when i restart the car again after a short stop, I get a smell of petro/oill inside the car have you any ideas!!!!

It would help if you know which smell it is for sure.

Brimmed the tank recently?

Any evidence of any drops/leaks under the car?

Hi suzzara..

Welcome to the club..

Lorian has pretty much covered the options for you to check...I would carefully open the hood and look for any fuel/ oil leaks under there as well..

It is a bit of a concern if it persists I would be heading for the nearest dealer pronto   :cool:
  • 2021 MG PHEV ( had 4 x i30 plus a Getz an Elantra and a Tucson)

I think i will book it in to a dealership tomorrow as I could not see any leaks under the car or under the bonnet. :rolleyes:

Mines a '59 plate too, and still under warranty  :mrgreen: 40+ years and still going strong.

My friend had the same problem in his 2007 Getz, it turned out one of the fuel lines was a bit loose he took it back to the dealership and they fixed it for him no dramas.
