i found locust's in my yard last night,any one else in Melbourne got this problem .

I think they would have drowned in our back yard, it hasn't stopped raining all day.  I believe they found one in Richmond (inner city suburb for non melbourne members). I would expect to get some it they do spread though, as we are really just a big country town over here.

Sorry don't know the 'other side' very well.    Is your suburb in close to town? 

We are about 35kms out and surrounded by green wedge, so we have farms with animals and crop all around us.  If anything will attract the locusts, that will.

I'm five minutes from Dandenong and Cranbourne. I'm about half an hour from the city [Melbourne] and I'm also close to a lot of market gardens and vacant land.

Hey 2i30s , are you far from Emerald?
you only need to worry about Locusts when they are in the thousands, i think they sprayed to kill them in some area's a few months back.

Many years ago I was managing a Goodyear store in Springwood south of Brisbane and arrived at work  one morning to find they'd invaded the office area. The whole floor of the office, my office, the showroom and the customer lounge was covered in living locusts about an inch deep.
And the SMELL!
Even sweeping out every hour or so it took several days to get rid of them.
The smell lingered for weeks.

no Trev,i didn't mean the 6 we found meant a plague. we've Had adds and warnings about them heading our way in apparent plague propotions. we are told in these adds to call a hotline and mention where they were found.

Still being Springwood it would have made a nice change from discovering the place broken into.......And the smell would have been better than most of your clients from Woodridge (buying 20" mags for their old Holden Commodores.....The only time they would actually buy tyres!!)

Didn't have 20" wheels in those days.
But. We sold LOTS of wheel and tyre sets to the Woodridge and Kingston crowd. Living in housing commisiion with little demand on their income they were happy to spend everything they earned on their cars.
 Didn't do so much business on the Springwood side as most of them had housing mortgages to manage.

BTW. Watch it. I owned a house in Kingston at the time.

i used to drink 18-20 cans of vic bitter and a half a bottle of Bourbon a night,10 years ago i almost died in my sleep and I've not drank that much ever again.  I'm a special occasion drinker now.  and with the extra money i now have i own 2i30s.
