Hi all,
Day 1 has showed what long legs my i30 has. 1240km from Syd to Injune in just under 14hrs - both car & driver are well.
No time for photo shoots. There was plenty of time behind the wheel experiencing the pleasure of a very capable vehicle in a big range of road types, scenery, a huge thunder storm & searing heat.
Trip meter settled on 6.4L/100km as each load of fuel was consumed - I'm pretty happy with that.

That's an interesting route. Shame you can't duck into Carnarvon Gorge for a couple of days.

Yes interesting route along B55 after going through Blue Mountains & Lithgow. Tomorrow will be through Emerald, Charters Towers then Townsville.
Yes Carnarvon Gorge & a few other places would be nice to spend time at. Cairns gets the lions share of my time this trip.
Yes will return via coast route.
Heavy rain near Roma washed bugs off the front of the i30 - how handy was that

We visited FNQ for the first time a bit over 12 months ago. Commuted from Townsville north to Port Douglas and south as far as Mackay in a rental car. Nice area!

It truly was an amazing drive - the i30 was sensational.

I just ran the numbers on fuel consumption & I'm pretty stoked actually...

5360km  &  347Lt of 91 Fuel used

6.48 L/100km
43.62 MPG
